evo

an seo plugin for the people.

SEO is extremely important to a brand’s success – but there is a huge gap between the average marketer/webmaster’s skillset and the technical expertise required to execute a strong SEO strategy.

Research & Personas

When designing EVO we needed to learn about the SEO market, the growth of the digital market, and the WordPress market as well as the needs and pain points of a variety of users.

We did this through a combination of research and a series of interviews with SEO specialists, digital marketers, web developers, and bloggers, which were used to inform the user personas.

Statistics
Wordpress downloads per day - 180,000
1.3 Billion websites on the internet
375 Million Wordpress sites
28.9% of the entire site
105 million active installs of SEO plugins

The Solution

An easy-to-use, fully functional tool that helps optimize search performance in a simplified and intuitive manner. EVO’s user-friendly UX makes it easy for the average user to navigate sophisticated SEO tools and input items for difficult technical tasks – the kind that would typically require a seasoned SEO expert.

The Plugin

  • Clean, easy to navigate interface
  • Notification panel on the right ensures users never miss a site error or issue
  • Tool and on-boarding tips throughout to assist with set up

the Account Portal

  • Clear success and error indicators to reduce drop rates and user friction during sign-up and login
  • Product owner testimonial providing credibility and instilling trust

The Wizard

The onboarding wizard uses nested steps to reduce user drop rates, clear action buttons allowing users to navigate back and forth, and progress indication affordance.

The Sales Site

To inform users about EVO we created a consumer facing website with product feature information, path to purchase, tutorials, and a blog.

the brand

To offset what can be a bit of dry task (unless SEO is your jam of course) we created a playful brand referencing 1980’s computer graphics to give a nuevo retro feel, making site optimization not only easy but down right rad.

The Process

Wireframes, sketches, (very) rough function roadmaps and various iterations of branding were explored throughout the product design.
